Day 15

It's day 15! Today I'm listening to Winyah, an indie rock band. For folks from my home, you all should go to the Comah and see them on the 12th! They've got a new album releasing on July 25th and I'm very excited to listen! This morning, I woke up to my alarm and immediately asked Gabe for a sandwich for the road. I turned myself and my pillow over and slept for another hour and a half.

I woke up again and walked up to work. Super foggy today, Most of the day Manana was very obscured by the fog, so it looked almost like i kept going, instead of just being a little island. Because of the humidity, I opted to wear a t shirt and shorts, but I was freezing all day at the museum. Today, I worked on refining the scavenger hunt I'm making for kids to explore the Wildlands through an artistic lens. No takers for the walk today, which made sense given the weather. Instead, I went over to the Keeper's house to see the other part of the museum -- the galleries dedicated to island history and heritage.

The day went by pretty quick, and I was walking down the hill before I knew it. Back at the Yew, I chilled out in my room and met Alex's girlfriend who is visiting him. We chatted a little bit and Jorgie and I socialized (with each other). I did a little bit of cleaning of my room and then took a shower. It's definitely been a more mellow day, which has been nice after a busy night yesterday. I chilled in my room until dinner, which was pork, baked potatoes, and green beans with a creamy mushroom sauce. Very yummy, as usual!

After dinner, I helped clean up and visited with my best friend, Mabel. She's the dishwasher, if you all remember. We sat out on the porch and looked out on the yard, which was almost completely obscured by the haze. I had a yummy chocolate chip cookie that Olivia made (it was complete with sea salt on top, of course). Jorgie offered everyone matcha, so Jess, Jane, Charlotte, and Jess' friend Ben and I convened in the cook house to get some. Now, I'm sitting on my bed drinking a jar of matcha! What a nice way to close out a mellow day.

There really isn't too much to report today, but that's okay. I think my goal of slowing down is working. My time spent relaxing today didn't feel like a waste of my day. It probably helped that it was dark and cold outside, but any step in the right direction is a, well, step in the right direction. Thanks for being here, on the exciting days, and the mundane ones. Though, how mundane can a day be on one of Maine's most remote islands?

I don't have any good photos from today, but here's the lighthouse projecting its beam across the foggy sky last night:

I'll update you all tomorrow, but for now, I'm going to finish my matcha and read a little. Slowly.

Love, Me
