Day 27
Happy day 27! I'm sitting in my bed listening to Sammy Rae and the Friends. Once again, it was an incredibly lovely clear day. I hitched another ride into town with Alex, then walked the rest of the way up the hill. Here's the view today:
Of course I treated myself to seconds. We cleaned up and then went to Cabot hill to play some frisbee and watch the sunset. The sun was deeply scarlet as it dipped below the horizon:
I'm going to try to call an early night today, but I'm not quite sleepy yet, so I might go check in on Jess and Jorgie to see how Jorgie's hair dyeing is going. She's aiming for auburn. Goodnight!
My professor and his research students were here for the day to continue some of their vegetation research, so the folks at the museum and I visited with them for a little bit to catch up. Once 1pm rolled around, I met folks for the Wildlands Walk. A record 8 walkers today, which is a lot to lead through the narrow island trails. It was a great tour, and many interesting questions were asked. Most of the people didn't know each other before the walk, but by the time we got to Whitehead they asked me to take a picture of all of them! My goal was definitely achieved with today's walk. I did some more work, and on my way home I swung by the Wharf shed to put up another poster. I also stopped at the store to see if they had any more nectarines, but they were out. They had, however, replenished their supply of stuffed grape leaves, so I bought a few of those.
Back at the Yew I decompressed in my room for an hour or so, then took a shower. I worked some more on the play that I'm writing and then it was dinnertime! Olivia and Jorgie made dinner tonight -- a hearty carrot and ginger soup, thickened with some delicious coconut milk. There were toppings galore, including pepitas and parsley. Olivia churned her own butter today, compounded with fresh herbs. That was enjoyed on a loaf of bread made with the buttermilk! Here's a picture of my spread:
Immediately after, the sky completely changed hues into a much softer cotton candy mix, illuminating the clouds pink:
Love, Me

yay for the record 8 walkers!
