Day 34
Good evening on Day 24! It was a hot one on the island today, by our standards. It probably hit 85 or so, and just seems to be getting hotter. My room was really hot when I returned from work, so I decided to open up the window and that has seemed to help a little.
Anyway, this morning, I packed lunch then caught a ride with Alex into town. It was nice to sit on the tailgate and feel the wind as we barreled through the streets at a staggering 8 miles per hour. Up at work, I continued the project I've been working on of mapping where on the island artworks featured in the exhibit were made. My 1pm walk was attended by what I've found to be the perfect number of visitors -- 5. Out at Whitehead there were a lot of harbor seals, which are much cuter than the gray seals we see on the coast of the Cape. Afterwards, I ate my lunch and continued my work.
Nearly all day today there were two super yachts anchored just outside the harbor. I used my hands marine traffic app to find out their names. I'll put a picture here so you can see how they put the 'super' in superyacht:
The vessel on the left is the smaller of the two, only 167 feet long, called 'Double Haven'. It happens to be for sale for only 27 million dollars. The other one, with the navy hull, is called 'Man of Steel', and clocks in at 282 feet. It's not for sale, but you can charter it weekly at only 1.4 million dollars per week, plus 'expenses'. It'd be cool to tour one of those boats, but that life is certainly not for me.
Back at the Yew, I corralled Alex and Jane to go for a swim at Fish beach with me. We walked to the end of the breakwater and swam off of there. The water was so incredibly clear, and while I swam back to the beach I could see the bottom so clearly, with what must've been nearly 10 or 12 feet of water. Glorious Gulf of Maine!
I took a shower, then picked some fresh flowers for the bouquet that I have been perpetually keeping in my room. I threw a large stalk of sage in, and my room smells amazing. Then, I helped Jorgie and Olivia with dinner, which was curried lentils with a kale salad -- delicious. Here's a photo:
Then, I went to Jamboree at the church. I didn't stay too long because the church was so hot, but I got to see some cool acts and lots of very talented kids. Now, I'm going to chill in my room (figuratively, and hopefully literally). Tune in again tomorrow!
Love, Me

Stay cool!! 😘
