Day 6

Happy Day 6! This morning I woke up to my alarm and the image of breakfast in my near future. So, despite being tired, I got dressed and walked over to the kitchen for some (you guessed it) scrambled eggs and sausage. Yummy as always. It was super foggy this morning, so as not to get too damp, I decided to eat in the cook house. I prepared my lunch of tofu curry and headed back to my room for a short but revitalizing 30 minute nap.

FUN FACT and RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATION:

  • Indian is one of my favorite cuisines! When I used to live in Chicago we would go to Devon Street, home to some of the best Indian food in the area. When my family moved to the Cape, we were disappointed with the lack of really super yummy Indian food near us. Until we found Keshar.
  • Keshar is such a good restaurant and I would recommend anyone within an hour driving distance of South Yarmouth, MA to try it ASAP. It is a little inconspicuous, located in the lobby of the Best Western hotel on Route 28, but the strange vibes are made up for with the food and service!
After my nap I packed for work and walked up the hill to the museum, listening to Durand Jones and The Indications' new album Flowers. Super good, I recommend a listen. At work this morning I worked on editing the poster I made to advertise the Wildlands Walks. I feel like a true graphic designer (sorta).

And... I took my first official group on the first official Wildlands Walk! They were all super engaged and interested in my tidbits and factoids. I even learned some from them! At the end, one of the guests asked me how many tours I had done today, and I told her this was the first one of the season! She seemed very impressed, and I'm taking that as a sign that it will be a smooth summer.

After the tour, I sat back down in the office and began to eat my lunch while the island pride parade got set up. The parade route started at the lighthouse, so I was able to see all the festive outfits (including some very chic dogs).

At the end of the day I walked back down the hill and sat in my room for just a moment before hearing voices in the hall. There was some sort of cornhole tournament happening down the street. We lingered in the hall for a moment and Alex (who was off-island for a week) had just returned. I met him and we loitered in his doorway chatting as he unpacked from his sojourn. We learned of a party tonight -- connected to the pride parade -- a gender-bender. As we planned, it became clear that we were not going to make the cornhole tournament, and we decided to have dinner instead. Leftover curry again was on the menu for me, and once again it was delicious. Even better warmed up too (we don't have a microwave up at the museum). Afterwards I took a quick shower and we planned our outfits. I decided that a 'gender-bend' didn't have to be a full 'gender-swap', so I opted for the frat-boy vibe. The outfit was as follows, from top down:

OUTFIT
  • Baseball cap (backwards)
  • One earring (left ear)
  • Eyeliner moustache (thanks Jane for the eyeliner)
  • Button up shirt (top three buttons not in use)
  • Gym shorts
  • Tall white socks
  • Birkenstocks
I completed the look with a jarring frat boy accent, bro. It was seriously convincing, dude, I won't even lie man. Alex even gave me two sharpie tattoos:

SUPER SICK TATS:
  • 'Don't tread on me' snake, with words (right bicep)
  • Playboy bunny (left bicep)

Armed with some incredibly out of character ink, we headed up lighthouse hill to the old ballfield and had a blast.

Catch you all tomorrow (hopefully not too tired)
Love, Me
