Day 37

Hello, and good evening on day 37 of my Monhegan Island journey. This morning, I packed a lunch and hopped in the truck with Alex all the way to the Wharf. I had a hard time waking up, and I thought I should treat myself, so I got an oat milk flat white at the Barnacle. I then walked up the hill to the lighthouse and got right back into my sheep. That is, the signs for Museum Party Day that are shaped like sheep. I decked them out with exciting colors and graphics. I'll just show you:

There's a lot of information packed into just one sheep, because there are BIG plans for Museum Party Day! Big plans I say!

Then, I took my guests on the Wildlands Walk. I think today may have been the most perfect weather day I've experienced so far on Monhegan. The sky was clear, there was a slight breeze, and the air was crisp but not cold, just perfectly pleasant. Among the walkers were the co-directors of the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, who have been tuning in to the Blog (Hi Anne and Frank!). Anne told me that my work was featured on Maine Calling, a radio show that's a park of NPR! You can listen here, starting at about 39'10". Additionally an article was published today in the Lincoln County News about the exhibit and my Wildlands Walks, so feel free to take a look at that!

After work, I went back to the Yew and shortly hopped on the truck to go to the late boat with Alex and Jorgie. We picked up Maizy, who is working at the Yew this month. She's a returner to the Yew family, and she seems incredibly nice. Then, it was time for Trash. Up at the ballfield, Olivia and I decided to go out on the trails to forage for a couple things. Olivia got some raspberry leaves, and I got sarsaparilla root and bayberry nibs. I'll keep you updated on what I do with them. Maizy and Amelia joined us, and we spent a few minutes out at Whitehead watching the gulls and seals:

After Trash, it was soon time for dinner. Gabe made fish cakes with a lemon caper mayo and a salad with rosemary balsamic dressing. Delish! We cleaned up, then got ready for tonight's outing: another party at the ballfield. The theme? British. My outfit? I'll walk you through it.

OUTFIT:

  • White trainers
  • White tube socks
  • Black sweatpants
  • Black tee shirt
  • Navy windbreaker (to complete the tracksuit look)
  • Black beanie
The outfit was only half of the disguise, though. I put on my best accent and made my cover story. I was from West Birmingham, and I was practically raised by Miss Winehouse herself. You can usually find me around the block at the chip shop or Tesco. Amy was on the playlist, as well as Adele, The Clash, Bastille, One Direction, and of course Central Cee, among others. All fun nights have to come to an end, even across the pond, so we walked home, I took a shower and sat down in bed to write to you all. Cheerio!

Love, Me
