Day 42

Hey blog-followers, It's day 42 on the island! This morning I met my parents in town and we walked to the Mooring Chain for some café goodies. I got an iced turmeric latte. Then, I took my parents on a grand tour of the village part of the island. Here's what was included in the tour:

  • Cabot Hill
  • the Wharf
  • Ice pond
  • Secret beach
  • Deadman's cove
Then, we got lunch at the Yew! After nearly two months of living at this place, I have never had the lunch from the restaurant that all of my dormmates work at -- the 'Bake Shop'. I got peanut noodles and a kale salad, and sampled my Dad's hummus veggie toast. It was very good! Then, we made our way up to the lighthouse for the 1pm Wildlands Walk. I had five people on the tour today (including my parents) which I have determined is the perfect number to have.

Again today the sky was so clear. I was able to make out cell towers and forests on the mainland, which often looks just like a line or is obscured completely by haze. Then, I showed my parents the museum and after took them on another walk -- following the bones of my 3:30 Wildlands Walks. We ended down at Lobster Cove and I think my dad was very excited to see the shipwreck.

On our way back into town, I peeled off at the Yew and took a shower and cleaned the dorms. Then, I went out onto the lawn to help reinforce the structure of our cardboard boat. Before long though, it was time to meet my parents at the Fish House for dinner. I had the fish tacos, which were delicious. Then, we went to dessert hour at the Monhegan House -- known as 'Nite Nite Fattys'. You get to choose from a selection of half a dozen cakes and get a heaping slice of your choice. I went with the Boston Creme Pie Cake, but thoroughly enjoyed a taste of my dad's Orange Olive Oil Cake.

Then it was back to the Yew to relax on the lawn. After a little while, my parents went back to their hotel and I helped finish covering the hull of our boat in duct tape. We tested it out on land, and determined we can fit ten people in it quite comfortably, so that is our plan for tomorrow. Send luck! We might need it around 1pm, so if you happened to set an alarm and make a wish right then, it would be convenient if you wished for our boat to not sink. Thanks in advance!

That's all for today!
